Planners & agendas

The best planner is the one you'll actually open every morning. Match the layout to the way your week really goes.

Pick a layout

Weekly vertical planners give each day a tall column, great for time-blocking. Weekly horizontal layouts stack days in rows, ideal for lists. Daily (page-a-day) planners suit packed schedules, appointment-heavy jobs and people who like to journal as they go. Monthly spreads show the big picture and work well paired with a notebook.

Academic vs calendar year

Calendar-year planners run January through December. Academic planners typically run July to June or August to July, lining up with the school year. Students, teachers and parents juggling school schedules usually find them far more practical. They tend to hit shelves in early summer, ahead of back-to-school season.

Dated or undated?

Undated planners let you start any week and skip vacations without wasting pages. Dated planners save you from writing dates and often include US federal holidays, handy for spotting long weekends like Memorial Day or Labor Day.
